Quad ESL 2805 Electrostatic Loudspeaker

New for Autumn 2006 is the baby brother of the Quad ESL 2905 Electrostatic Loudspeaker. Weighing in at £4500 (£1500 cheaper than the Quad ESL 2905's), the Quad ESL 2805 uses the same audiophile components such as the output transformers and capacitors that create the unique sound that this family of speakers produce.
As opposed to the ESL 2905s, the ESL 2805 have only four electrostatic panels rather than six but still have the same chic aluminium chassis and luxurious wooden black paintwork that look like they belong on a Steinway grand piano.
Available from your local Quad dealer early autumn.

Interested in the 2805 as I used to own the 63 and using Conrad Johnson tube pre and power. I'm currently using the Bel Canto Preamp and a pair of Bel Canto Ref1000 (500 wpc into 8ohms) driving the Thiel 3.6 and also using the Triad Platinum18" sub. Will the Bel canto pre/power be too massive for the 2805? I think the sub should be ok with the 2805. Is it true that the speaker will just shut down if played too loud? Anyway, I listen mainly female vocal and smooth jazz. I do listem to regulas pop like the Eagles latest and Dire Straits music.
