Arcam was busy at last week's 2009 CES showing off a prototype of its forthcoming FMJ Blu Ray players. Having gained a reputation for its high end DVD and home cinema equipment, Arcam has stayed away from the High Definition player market whilst the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray was being fought. But now that was resolved well over nine months ago, Arcam has been able to focus on this latest proposed addition to its FMJ range.

Respected website Blu-ray.com has the heads up on the Arcam FMJ blu-ray which is proposed to be available in two flavours, the first hopefully being around June 2009, when a BD Live blue-ray player will launched with HDMI, Composite, 1gb flash memory, ethernet and RS232. Then at the end of the year a superior model will be launched with additional component, better video processing, DVD upscaling and eight channel output.

As and when Hi-Fi Insight know more about these Arcam FMJ Blu-ray players, we will bring you all the details, but for now all we know is that a Linux OS will be used to control the players and pricing for the two types of players has yet to be confirmed but they will not be cheap as the company's flagship universal DVD player, the Arcam FMJ DV-139 weighs in at well over £1500 for starters.
