Arcam

The Arcam Solo is an extremely impressive new product aimed at the fast growing "lifestyle" market where the likes of Bose have been so strong in the last few years.

You have to hand it to Arcam whilst the more conservative British hi-fi manufacturers have merely improved and tweaked their existing product ranges, Arcam have taken the bold move to enter into a brand new and very competitive market place hoping to better the competition by offering superior sound quality at a sensible price.

The Arcam Solo retails for £999, and is essentially a high quality 50 watts per channel amplifier, alram clock, an Arcam CD-73 compact disc player and a digital tuner that borrows heavily from the Arcam DT-91 Digital Tuner. The result is an extremely smart, compact and very sexy shiny silver box that the designers at Apple would be proud of.

But the Arcam Solo isn't just sexy, it has to be one of the best sounding listens under £1000 on the market today. If that weren't enough at the back you have gold plated connectors, RS3232 connector for wiring it up to a computer for automated control and infra red sockets that allow you to hook it up to an in-house multi room entertainment system.

Arcam really seemed to have done their home work and got everything about the Solo right and i have no doubt the Arcam Solo will become one of Arcam's biggest selling products over the next 18 months.
