Cambridge Azur 540C V2 CD Player
The Cambridge Azur 540C is probably one of the best sub £200 CD player on the market, so you would think Cambridge Audio would be crackers to risk all and redesign it in version two guise as pictured above. Well fortunately judging by the recent reviews it looks like Cambridge Audio have pulled it off and the Cambridge Azur 540C V2 CD Player is set to be sure fire hit on the high street.
At £50 less than it's bigger brother, the Cambridge Azur 640C V2 CD Player, this player shares the same jitter reducing Sony transport that Cambridge Audio have modified to their own specification but uses only one Wolfson WM8740 24-bit/192kHz DAC. The power supply is designed to keep noise and distortion as low as possible by using a high quality toroidal transformer and the whole chassis employs similar dampening as well.
Some people may question Cambridge Audio's decision to sell two very similar products in the Cambridge Azur 540C and the Cambridge Azur 640C, but both sell incredibly well and perhaps Cambridge Audio felt it important to have a sub £200 player in the marketplace with the option of a slightly better sounding model for the extra outlay.
