The Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B Plasma Screen is the latest edition to their Viera range of televisions and represents one of the best quality screens you can find for around £2000 in the UK today. Panasonic have achieved a bit of coup this latest range of Viera plasma screens as they are the first ever to incorporate a built in Freesat tuner so watching high definition television on the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B could not be easier especially if you have a Sky satellite dish already installed.

Given that Freesat broadcasts from the same satellite as Sky, no adjustment or re-alignment is required to an existing Sky dish and with FreeSat, you get the added bonus of being able to watch ITV HD which cannot be viewed through a Sky HD box. Unfortunately the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B plasma screen we were watching was not rigged up with Freesat, so we had to make do with Sky HD and Blu-ray both of which were being fed via a triple screened Profigold PGV1002 HDMI cable.

Picture quality on the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B Plasma Screen when watching the BBC HD channel and an episode of Futurama on Sky One HD was outstanding, the vibrancy of the colours and brightness was extremely impressive and it would have been interesting to be able to compare it side by side against the best £2000 LCD screen as the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B Plasma Screen really allowed the light in the picture to shine through. The whole experience was very rewarding, and if anyone had any doubt that all hype surrounding high definition television was being overplayed, then thirty minutes viewing in front of the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B Plasma Screen would put that to bed - full stop.

Picture quality of Blu Ray via a Panasonic DMP-BD50 player was equally impressive and did the 1080p "Batman: The Dark Knight" disc justice as it is a very dark film colourwise but the TH-50PZ81B did not slip up and gave one of the best home cinema experiences you could have in the living room. To be honest, there was very little that you could criticise about the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B as it was one of the best plasma screens I have seen.

If you are looking for a large plasma screen and have around £2000 to spend, then the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ81B is one of the best out there especially given the built in future proof Freesat tuner.
