The Sense 51-42 LCD TV has been one of the best kept secrets in Home Cinema for about nine months or so. Sold almost exclusively through Ebuyer, the Sense 51-42 LCD TV is a full HDTV (1920x1080) LCD television that is available for sale under £550 making it just about the cheapest full HD 42 inch screen in the UK. Given that my existing plasma screen spec was a bit dated and the reviews and feedback on the Sense 51-42 were favourably, I took the plunge and ordered one.

Ebuyer delivered the television in about seven days without any problems, although the box was rather large to say the least. However the Sense 51-42 LCD TV is quite light given its size and comes with its pedestal attached so setting it up took no longer than five minutes.

The Sense 51-42 LCD TV has a plethora of inputs including two HDMI, SVhs, VGA, composite and twin scart not to mention a built in DVB Freeview and analogue TV tuner. Both tuners have built-in auto tuners but my personal preference for superior terrestial TV is to connect a Sky+ Box via a high quality scart such as the Profigold Oxypure PGV 7500 we featured a couple of weeks ago as this gives excellent results. The picture quality of the Sense 51-42 LCD TV on the whole was extremely impressive and I don't think anyone could be disappointed at this price point.

The HDMI on the Sense 51-42 LCD TV as you would expect provides the best quality and this was confirmed when my XP Shuttle media server was connected up and a few test DVD were played. Even at 720P resolution (my Shuttle has no HDCP, so 1080P is not available), picture quality was stunning and it will be interesting to sample some blu-ray content at full resolution at a later stage as some 720P trailers I watched were very good indeed.

To sum up, the Sense 51-42 is worth every penny and if you are in the market for a cheap 42 inch 1920x1080 resolution LCD, then this must be a serious contender. Available from Ebuyer whilst stocks last.

Has anyone managed to find the RCU code so that this TV will work with a Sky remote control ?

I have looked on various forums, but no one seems to have a solution.
